Children

I conduct child and family assessments to get to the root of what is going on with your child, and work with you to develop a customized treatment plan to address your child’s individual needs.

Teens & Adolescents

Where did my sweet child go? One minute you were everything to them, wanting to be around you all the time, and the next minute they change into a person you do not recognize anymore. You see them act out — maybe getting more frustrated, yelling, telling you that you don’t understand them — and you are wondering what you can do. I have nearly 10 years of experience providing therapy and counseling to teenagers and I can help both you and your teen manage this emotional challenging time.

Young Adults

It is difficult growing up. One minute you are navigating high school with teenage responsibilities, and the next minute you are supposed to be an adult that knows what you want to do and where you want to go in your life. You are thinking something is wrong with you because everyone seems to have it together but you and you are feeling lost, but you’re not alone. I am here to help you get through this new and often scary life change. I have provided therapy to young adults struggling with life transitions for nearly a decade. I can help you with this difficult life transition and help provide you the skills you need to live the life you dreamed of.

Parenting

Being a parent is hard work! Long gone are the days when you only thought and worried about yourself. The days when you could wake up late, and lounge around for days on end. This care-free life is now replaced with worry, shame, guilt and you are unsure how to cope. Having children requires us to be ever changing and ever growing. As soon as you master one life stage, bam! Another one hits you and you have to start from scratch. I’m here to tell you that you are doing the best that you can with what you have. Just the fact that you are here on my website shows what a caring and loving parent you are. I am with you if you want some help on parenting strategies, or if you want to learn how to interact with your small or big child just a little better. I can teach you new parenting tools and guide you on how to use them. My therapeutic practice focuses on self-compassion and radical love for the parents that come through my office. Your job is the hardest and the most rewarding of all and you are doing amazing at it — even if it doesn’t doesn’t always feel that way.

You might be wondering how to make your relationship work. Maybe it used to be easy to be together…but more and more you prefer being apart. Or maybe you and your partner are just dealing with a minor issue and you both just need a little bit of help getting through a rough patch. You might be concerned with how the kids see you and your partner. Perhaps you have noticed that your home life has become more negative and don’t know how to stop or change it. You might feel alone. You may just want to reconnect.

Whatever the issues you and your partner are facing, I am here to help you. After all the foundation of the family is your relationship. If you are not thriving in your partnership or you are not engaged and committed to each other then you can expect everything to go wrong. ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)

With ACT, I teach mindfulness skills to help you live and behave in ways consistent with personal values while developing psychological flexibility.

By practicing ACT, I help you recognize ways in which your attempts to suppress, manage, and control emotional experiences create challenges. By recognizing and addressing these challenges, you can become better able to make room for values-based actions that support well-being.

DIALETICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)

Dialetical Behavior Therapy is a comprehensive cognitive behavioral treatment. DBT aims to treat people who see little or no improvement with other therapy models.

I use DBT to help you focus on problem solving and acceptance-based strategies. DBT operates within a framework of dialectical methods. The term dialectical refers to the processes that bring opposite concepts together such as change and acceptance. I use DBT to help you develop techniques for achieving goals, improving well-being, and effecting lasting positive change

MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING (MI)

Motivational interviewing is a psychotherapeutic approach that attempts to move you away from a state of indecision or uncertainty and towards finding motivation to making positive decisions and accomplishing established goals.

I use Motivational Interviewing as a clinical approach to help you with mental health, substance use disorders, and other chronic conditions to make positive behavioral changes to support better health. I use MI to help you express empathy and avoiding arguing, develop resilience, and support self-efficacy.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

CBT is a short-term form of behavioral treatment. It helps you problem-solve. CBT also reveals the relationship between your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow.

Through CBT, I will give you the tools to learn that your perceptions directly influence how you respond to specific situations. In other words, with CBT, I will help you understand that your thought process informs your behaviors and actions.
